We offer two beautiful castle backdrop options, perfect for a wide range of fairytale and fantasy musicals including Frozen, Shrek, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and any production that calls for a magical castle setting.

Both designs create a striking stage centrepiece, with different builds available depending on your space, team size, and production needs.

Option A – Lightweight Modular Castle (Recommended)

Our newest castle is a lightweight, flat-packed scenic set, designed with simplicity, flexibility, and ease of use in mind.

It features a classic grey stone finish with turrets and doors, creating a strong fairytale look without the complexity of a heavy build.

A key feature of this set is its modular design – the sides are able to slide in or out, allowing the castle to be adjusted to suit smaller or larger stage spaces. This makes it especially adaptable for schools, youth groups, and venues with limited wing space.

This version is:

Quick and simple to construct
Lightweight and easy to handle
Flat-packed for transport and storage
Adjustable in width to suit smaller venues
Ideal for schools, youth theatre, and amateur productions

Height at max point with turret: 340cm / 290cm without turret

Depth: 140cm

Full width: 900cm / width without being fully extended 741cm

For ease, practicality, and versatility, Option A is our most commonly recommended castle set.

CASTLE OPTION A

Option B – Large Scale Castle (Full or Reduced Set)

Our original castle set offers a more traditional, large-scale scenic build with additional stage presence and detail.

This set is heavier and more substantial, designed for productions with larger build teams and greater technical support.

Option B – Full Set (Approx 10.5 metres)

The full version creates a wide, dramatic castle façade with strong visual impact across the stage.

Requires a minimum of 6 people to construct
Includes sliding gate sections that open and close on stage
Strong, detailed scenic finish with purple-toned stonework
Ideal for larger venues and full-scale productions

Castle Measurements:

Maximum height of the castle wall 3.7m

Total length of the wall 10.5m

Depth required approx 3.5m if wanting to bring castle turret through / allow room for performers entrance and other scene changes.

Spanning under 8m in width from SR to SL - this option is better suited for smaller stages.

Option B – Reduced Set (Approx 8 metres)

The reduced version uses the central section of the castle, removing the outer extensions while keeping the same detailed centrepiece.

Requires a minimum of 6 people to construct
Same central castle design and sliding gates
Reduced width for smaller stage spaces
Most commonly chosen version for schools and youth groups

Spanning 11m from SR to SL - this option is perfect for wide stages.

Castle Measurements:

Maximum height of the castle wall 3.7m

Total length of the wall approx 7.7m

Depth required approx 3.5m if wanting to bring castle turret through / allow room for performers entrance and other scene changes.

Stage Weight Requirements

Both castle sets require stage weighting for safe use during performance.

We recommend:

Option A: minimum 8 stage weights
Option B: minimum 12 stage weights (including additional support for gate sections and structural stability)

Stage weights can sometimes be supplied for hire, but most groups choose to provide their own. If you need assistance sourcing these, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

Choosing Your Castle

Both castles create beautiful fairytale settings, but they suit different types of production.

Most schools and youth theatre groups tend to choose Option A, due to its lightweight design, adaptability, and ease of build.

However, if you are looking for a more traditional large-scale castle with sliding gates and a stronger stage footprint, Option B offers a more dramatic visual impact.
